I did some research today and found out that the top players in web hosting in the Philippines charge too much for their service. For the usual 100MB space and 5Gig Bandwith they will charge you for like 50 Pesos to 100 Pesos (approx. $2.5). And the space is just too small for even the smallest of businesses. When you find yourself wanting to expand your site, the next tier of hosting package would be $10 to $20 per month.

But if you look further, you will find that international hosting companies such as bluehost & hostmonster charges only $5 for a huge chunk of space and bandwidth. Compare a 100MB space, 5Gig Bandwidth to UNLIMITED space and UNLIMITED bandwidth!

Surprised? No need to thank me, just send me a donation thru paypal if you’re really serious about it. Kidding aside. I know you want to have a web hosting in the Philippines, but the thing is, international web hosts are just cheaper and gives the most bang for your buck. You can also pay them instantly and automatically through credit card or paypal. No hassle. I’m not downsizing the web hosting in the Philippines. It’s just that, they provide better product/service for cheaper price. I hope this is a wake up call for local web hosting companies as the price for web hosting in the Philippines isn’t really that affordable.

Starting an E-Commerce Internet Business

Most people dreamed of building their online empire of online stores and earned thousands of dollars right in the comfort of their own homes. But it is not as easy as it sounds. Managing or even starting up an online internet business or ecommerce also needs ecommerce web hosting. Because of that, let us guide you on how you can start your own ecommerce internet business.

So you want to be an Internet Entrepreneur? Well good, you have just taken the first step to starting an Internet business. Knowing what you want to do is half the battle, devising a plan and executing it is the other half. To begin with you will need to have a basic idea of what type of business you want to have online. Will you sell products or services? You need to give careful consideration to what you will be selling before you start your online business otherwise you will be wasting your time.

What should you look for as a means for a good Internet business?

If you already have a business in the “brick and mortar” world off line, then you can capitalize on it by expanding it on the Internet. In this case, it would be the most logical thing to do. Just make sure that if you decide to put your business on the Internet and actually sell products or services that you create a website that is fitting. Don’t just use the Internet as a way of advertising your business, actually do business on the web.

Some people who start a business online merely use their site as a sort of brochure or sales letter for advertising purposes. These types of sites do have their advantages but don’t give the businessperson the advantage of utilizing potential opportunities available by new online technologies. Your web site can showcase information about your company and products or be an efficient way to communicate with clients and customers. It is virtually your international marketplace for selling your products and services.

The Internet is the best place in the world to run a business. The technology available to the lay person just starting out is tremendous. Everything from designing a website for free, to adding such features as shopping carts, merchant accounts, and interactive shopping are abundantly at their disposal. In addition, never before has there been a mechanism that allows a business to reach more potential customers so easily and on such a vast scale. Businesses online today have global access to customers, literally reaching all corners of the earth.

Now for the other side of the coin. If you don’t already have an off line business but want to start an Internet business, don’t give up hope. Opportunities abound for you as well. Start by making a list of your areas of expertise. Maybe you are a great writer, or a wonderful cook. Maybe you have exceptional public speaking skills, or can create training materials. Whatever you can think of by way of experience and expertise can literally be turned into an Internet business. Take for example this concept, you can take your area of expertise and write an ebook about it. Instantly you will have a product to sell online and officially be in business.

Lastly, if you don’t have and off line business already and you don’t feel that you have any expertise to offer anyone, there still is something that you can do to start a business online. You can learn about existing businesses on the Internet and how they operate. Hopefully you will find something of interest that you can do as well, just differently and hopefully better. Look for a niche market for your idea as well. One that has not been services properly or very little. There are always opportunities available to improve on products and services, you just have to figure out how and you will have the makings of an Internet business.
The Legalities of Running an Online Business

Do you need an attorney when starting an online business? It depends on the type of business that you will be operating online. Typical “brick and mortar” businesses use an attorney when structuring a new business for a variety of reasons. The following situations are typically when a lawyer would be needed whether you start a business online or off.

*

Incorporation: Incorporating your business has several benefits to it. It may be more beneficial tax wise, it lends credibility to the image of your company, your business will be treated more seriously by investors, banks and such. You can incorporate your business whether it is an online business or not.
*

Patents, Trademarks and Copyrights: Intellectual property law is still a pretty gray area. You may need to make sure that you are not infringing on copyright, trademark or patent laws. An Intellectual Property lawyer can help with this and also help you if you have anything that you want trademarked, copyrighted or patented.
*

Licenses and Contracts: Before signing any legally binding contract or agreement relevant to your Internet business, you should have an attorney look it over to make sure your rights are protected and that you are not signing away the store. Anytime that you enter into any type of contractual situation with vendors, suppliers and so on, it is best to be safe that sorry by having the legalities of the contract or agreement checked out.
*

Internet Law : Because of the 1999 Internet law on “Anti-Cybersquatting”, it is best to consult a lawyer whenever you are thinking about buying expired domain names. Just because they have expired doesn’t mean that they are free Intellectual Property. They may in fact still be under copyright, trademark or some other intellectual property law.

So before you spend money building a website and promoting your new business, make sure that you will not run into legal issues in the future. The relatively small cost of seeking legal advice may save you much more money down the road.

The web hosting company today that we are going to review offers a wide range of services that also includes windows server. Which is really rare these days.

Rating Out Of Ten

Performance 7
Reliability 8
Customer Relations 8
Features 9
Control Panel 4

Introduction

Easy CGI has a superior intuitive site, which provide potential clients with easier access to ordering information. They also offer the most unique product offerings. They offer Coldfusion, ASP, and even the new ASP.net technologies. Besides web hosting they also offer co-location, which shows that they are no small player.
If you need Windows 2000 hosting, the average provider will charge you around $20 or more per month with a setup fee. Easy CGI is an exception to that, with Windows 2000 hosting accounts starting at $7.96 per month. It comes with 3 GB of space and 50 GB of traffic. For storage, we have not found a company offering more. For Windows web hosting, Easy CGI is a very solid choice.

Price and Cost Effectiveness

Easy CGI was founded in 1998 and located in New York. Over the years, they have expanded their product offerings. They offer the most comprehensive Windows web hosting package we have ever seen. Their packages all come with ASP, MS Access and access to a shared ssl certificate. Plus they were the first company we have seen to offer ASP.net to the public. They also offer plenty of flexibility to their web hosting plans. You can add MsSQL and Coldfusion at any time.

Control Panel

One of the greatest weaknesses in this company is their control panel. Easy CGI’s control panel is very limited in what it is able to do. For one, it lacks much of the advanced features that are otherwise found in other control panels such as web creation tools, setting directories as CGI readable, etc. Their control panel is very basic, in that it only includes mailbox editing, and billing information. Rather than using a professional control panel software package with lots of features, they decided to make their own which is very basic. However, if you do not plan to use a control panel, then this should not matter. It does have all the basic functions, just nothing more and the interface needs some tweaking.

Data Center

We were unable to obtain much information about their date center. We do know though that they operate a data center and it is located in the same building as their corporate headquarters. This means they can easily solve problems if they were to occur.

Customer Relations

EasyCGI has improved their customer service dramatically over the past few years. With their vast years of experience in the industry, all of their service professionals have sufficient knowledge in the products they sell. You can ask them anything about the packages and they will answer promptly without hesitation. When we asked about Windows web hosting including version numbers of software and whether or not it would support our Windows ASP application, they were able to provide competent answers. EasyCGI also provides extended support hours from 9 to 5 six days a week.

Conclusion

All in all, Easy CGI is a viable web hosting provider. It offers everything one would expect in web hosting company. Even though they have a much weaker control panel than most web hosting companies, they offer consumers a great value in web hosting and they have above average technical support. They are definitely a choice to consider when you are seeking for a Windows web hosting provider or if you need a lot of storage space.

As you are fully aware by now, a majority of web hosting companies will lower the price of your monthly hosting charges the longer you extend or subscribe to their web hosting services. Normally most web hosts such as Lunarpages and Ipowerweb charge $7.95 if you prepay for one year of web hosting, but that price drops once extend it by another year and it will drop again if you extend for 3 years. The reason is because web hosting companies prefer customers who stay with them and they want the money upfront so they can purchase additional servers and equipment. Just a couple of users going with this plan can help pay for the cost of the server. Thus, the marginal revenue of the server will increase as more users are added to the server because the initial cost of the server has already been paid off by the initial users who subscribed to the services and prepay on a bi-annual or annual basis.

But is making an extended payment option always the right choice? If you choose a annual or bi-annual subscription you can save between 20-40% per month, but if the company goes bankrupt after 4 months (the grace period when you can dispute a charge with a credit card company) then you are out of luck for the prepayment of services you have already paid. Worst yet, if the company provides bad service you will be stuck with them for years before you can get out since most companies have severe penalties for leaving the services early.

The best option is to prepay annually though if the company is reputable and has been in business for a long time. If they have been in the business for a long time and they provide good service initially then more than likely they will stay in business for years to come. Better yet, they will get more customers without advertising because their customer service is above par in the industry. The best predictor is to look for reviews of business web hosting companies before going with that web host. The worst thing to look for in a web host is value = best bang for the buck, because most likely they cannot afford to hire the proper staffs and their server reliability will be below par in the industry.

In time they will go out business because once their merchant account is out of service they can’t bill customers and they will not have much revenue left to sustain their business.
You can also look at the BBB report of the company to ensure that their level of customer service isn’t degrading. If customer service is degrading then it is a sign they that they are running out of funds and they are either not able to support the growth of the company or they are running out of funds and are being forced to let people go. This is a first sign that the company is heading to a downward spiral and will eventually go out of business.

In this article we are going to tackle how to set up your business web hosting. It details from the purchasing of domains, tips on choosing a domain, tips on choosing the best hosting provider, promotion of your domain and business. So, get a cup of coffee and start reading.

Maximize Your Domain’s Worth

You’ve chosen the perfect domain name for your website. One that solidifies your business image. Or so you think! Make sure to choose a domain name that reflects what your business is all about. For instance, you don’t want the domain name mechanics.com if you are selling shoes do you? Choose a name that will not only be representative of your products or services, but will also portray your business in a professional manner. Think before you buy! Valuation of a domain name is both an art and a science. Knowledge and experience in understanding the factors that influence the value of a domain name is the art, while quantifying the importance of these factors is a science. However, the reliability of appraisal values cannot be accurately determined without comparison of statistical models.

Due to their widespread availability and low price, domain names can often be bought on impulse. Most domains bought this way are rarely used. Think about it carefully before selecting a domain name. After all, you will be stuck with it for at least a year.

You then registered your domain name and now you think that it’s going to pay for itself a hundred times over. Well, you couldn’t be more wrong! No matter what domain name you buy, it’s not going to pay for itself on its own. Just because you think that you have chosen the most perfect domain name, others may not agree. Registering a domain name has become a lot cheaper over the years. As your business grows, you will probably want to register more domains. Don’t be swayed to choose the cheapest, they may not necessarily be the best. Remember that you get what you pay for. Maximizing a domain name’s value takes thought, creativity and effort. It also requires selecting a good name in the first place. That’s where it all starts. There are ways though that you can maximize the value of your chosen domain name. Let’s look at a few suggestions to help you do just that.

The Right Domain Name Matters

A domain name is your unique web site address and the location of your website. By registering your own domain name, you can distinguish yourself and promote your business instead of being one of millions of other users on one web address (ex: @everyone.com). In addition, your e-mail can be independent of your local ISP, which means that you can change providers anytime without changing your email address! This is very important to keeping your customers. While just about every word in the English language has been registered one time or another as a domain name, you may be talked into using a name that is hyphenated or one that has a funny-sounding acronym. You may think that it will be easier to remember this way. Not so! The reason is that in actuality hyphens make a domain name longer. Although a domain like Bobsinternetreservices.com is long, it’s not as long as bobs-internet-services.com. It can become very cumbersome and more difficult for people to remember because of all the pauses caused by using hyphens in the first place. The single most important thing that you NEVER want to do is to make it difficult for people to remember your domain name. You will never get traffic to your site that way.

Website owners often believe that hyphenated domains will improve their Web site’s ranking in search engines. This is simply not true. Once upon a time search engines looked at each word in between hyphens as a keyword. A search engine would then compare each keyword with the content of your site, match it to the query of the user performing the search, and then determine where your site should appear in its listings (ranking). Today, search engines are much smarter; they look at a website’s content and little else. Because of that, hyphenated domain names no longer have any influence on search engine rankings. The best way to drive traffic to your site is using a single name, even if it has to be a little longer that you would like. It’s better here to be safe than sorry later on.

Consider a Country Code Top Level Domains (ccTLD)

A Top Level Domain or “TLD” is the most commonly used code forming an Internet Domain Name. Apart from the well-known extension codes for domain names such as .com, .net, or .org, there are many others, which are used to divide the domain name space up geographically. A Country Code Top Level Domain or “ccTld” on the other hand has a country code as its suffix instead of the typical .com, .net or .org extension. Each country has its own domain extension; Canada, for example, is .ca, while Japan has been assigned .jp. From a functional perspective, Country Code Top Level Domains (ccTLDs) work just as well as any Top Level Domain. Today, more and more website owners are opting for country-specific domains. This is die to the fact that better names are typically readily available than when choosing a domain under the .com, .org or .net extensions. If all the domains available for your site are extremely long, it may be wise to consider purchasing a ccTLD. As long as the domain name can provide full functionality and regional branding, it really wont’s matter want the extension is. The downside to using cctld’s is loss of business branding. If you can’t afford to publicize the fact that your business is at yourbiz.to, then you stand a chance that no one will have a clue what your business is about. On the other hand, if your site will only be listed on the Internet, and won’t be advertised on TV or radio, you can probably get away with using a cctld, including a .us domain. The key to all of this is simplicity. Wherever possible it is extremely important to your business image to retain your own brand, whatever that is.

Promoting your domain to search engines

Once you have configured your domain to point to your Web site, you will need to ensure that search engines are aware of it. If they aren’t, your site will receive very few visitors - even if you have managed to find a memorable, snappy domain name. With a little bit of effort and a lot of patience, however, you can garner a significant traffic base from search engines. One thing to keep in mind when choosing search engines is that some of them take 3 or 4 months to spider those spiffy “doorway” pages that you made. You’ll have to be patient for them to work for you.

Without letting everyone in the world know that you have a website with products or services to sell, no one will even know that you exist. That’s where search engines come in. You have to tell as many as possible that you have an Internet business and search engines are an effective marketing tool to help you do just that. With search engines the goal is to achieve the highest-ranking possible to get more “hits” to your site. Search engines are “key-word sensitive” meaning that when you register with a search engine you will be asked to put in certain words that define your business. For instance, if you sell cats for a living, some keywords that you may use are cats, felines, kittens, etc. When someone is looking for information or products related to cats they would search the net using a key word. If it’s a match to one of your key words on the search engine, your business will come up on a list that they can choose from and be taken directly to your site. Now that’s how to drive traffic to your site.

Registering your domain

Until 1999, there weren’t many choices of registrars to register a domain name. There was a monopoly in the domain registration business by a company called NSI. In June of 1999 things began to change as several new companies were granted registrar status. Among them were Register.com and CORE. By January of 2000 things had changed dramatically with the increase of registrars to over 80 and about 100 additional CORE registrars. This dramatic increase broke the stronghold that NSI had on the registration business, they were a monopoly no more. The choices among registrars improved significantly. This was obviously good for those seeking to register domain names

The Registrar XE “Registrars” is important to website owners. They can’t resister their domain names to do business on the web without them, and they can’t do business without first registering their domain name. It’s a real catch-22 situation. The function of a registrar is therefore extremely important. They are the people keeping track of who owns what domain name and what server the name points to. However, simply buying a domain name doesn’t mean that you own it. There are registrars out there that will actually take ownership of your domain name in the process of registering it for you. While official ownership is usually irrelevant, it can be key in a legal dispute. When an ISP or Web host registers a domain on your behalf, they will sometimes register themselves as the official owner of the domain but they will grant you usage of it. In the event of an ownership dispute because of trademark or other reasons, the decision about whether or not to relinquish ownership of the domain will ultimately reside in the hands of your service provider instead of you.

Make sure that this doesn’t happen to you. When you choose an ISP or Web Host make sure it is clear that you will be the ultimate owner of the domain name not just the registrar. If the ISP or Web Host refuses to do this, search for another, you will eventually find one who will. Another thing to be aware of is that it usually costs between $10 and $35 a year to register domain names. You don’t get it for free unfortunately. When you have your domain name registered, make sure that you’re not over charged for this. To get all the facts on domain name registrars read the “Domain Name Buyers” guide found at amazon.com, outstanding.com or nameguru.com. Like anything else, always check around for the best price.

Selling Your Domain Name

Selling your domain name will take a lot of negotiating. When you negotiate to sell your domain name, you first need to find out how it will be used and just how interested the buyer is to that particular name. For example, Compaq purchased the domain name for the popular search engine altavista.digital.com. They were anxious to replace the domain name quickly with altavista.com, which would be more suitable to them. As luck would have it, a small Oregon company already took the domain name altavista.com. Compaq entered negotiations with this company to purchase the domain name. After long negotiations, Compaq paid $3.35 million dollars for the domain name (reported by the SF Chronicle, July 1998). You may never have the opportunity to enter into such financially large negotiations when trying to sell your own domain name but you still need to try to get the most money possible that you can. In order to give you a broader spectrum of negotiating power, you might want to consider using a domain name auction service. You can leave your asking price “open” to see how good the opening bid that you get is. If you get too many low offers with this method, you can easily change your offering to include a minimum asking price. Bids for less than $500 or $1000 are usually not accepted by most domain name auction services. Which is a good starting point for you. On the bright side, domain names are increasingly being priced for tens of thousands of dollars. For instance: TV.com sold for $15,000 and Business.com sold for $150,000 (reported by CNET - News.com June 1997). It all boils down to supply and demand. If you’ve got something that someone else wants, in the end they will pay for it.

Choosing Your Business Web Hosting

This article focuses on the differences between various business hosting services, and helps the reader identify some important criteria in choosing a hosting provider for their business (for instance, do you require a dedicated server, a managed server, or a shared server). A business web site could range anywhere from a simple ecommerce site which sells one product, to a very complex pay per click engine with real time statistics and payment functionality.

Even with all of the consolidation going on in the web hosting industry, there are still thousands upon thousands of hosting companies to choose from. If you visit some of their sites, you will see that each of them tout some features you may or may not of even heard of before (Miva Scripting, Co-Location services, Virtual Private Servers, Redundant backbone connections, etc). The very first question you must ask yourself is not which hosting company to choose but rather, WHY do you need a hosting company?

Your particular needs are crucial in determining the kind of hosting you need. Web Hosting comes in many different flavors and sizes, (not to mention prices!) so its key that you shop for only the services you require or you will be paying for a lot of services that you don’t need. When trying to decide which hosting company will best suit your needs be sure to ask yourself a few questions first. Here are some important ones:

1. What kind of functionality will you require (ie Database, secure server for processing credit cards, etc.)
2. What will your traffic needs require (do you anticipate your site having small, moderate, or significant traffic)
3. How important are load times (if a majority of your visitors are global you might want to consider a hosting company that has a presence overseas as well as the U.S. – also you may want to consider a dedicated server as opposed to sharing a server with several other businesses)

A business site can range in price anywhere from the low end of $40-$50.00 all the way up into the thousands of dollars per month. Features that usually catapult the price range are things like dedicated servers (especially if they are on the high end hardware wise), and bandwidth capacity.

Choosing a web host for your business needs is absolutely one of the most important decisions you can make. If your site is down, your business is down, end of story. Below is a list of some of the important questions you will want to make sure you ask any prospective hosting company before signing on the dotted line.

1. Do they offer a money back, no questions asked guarantee?
2. Do they offer an uptime guarantee? (as in, if there is a outage, are you compensated?)
3. What types of backups do they offer (tape back ups, CD rom storage)
4. Do they have redundant backbone connections to the internet (are they connected to the internet by more than one provider, and are those providers major backbone providers)
5. Do they offer 24-7 technical support (including phone support, or is it only via email)
6. How long have they been in business for and can they provide some business references of other sites that they currently host?
7. Can you pay month to month or do they require an annual contract?
8. Is it easy for you to upgrade/downgrade services you may or may not require as time passes?

Not all people are businessmen that wants to put up a site for their business. Others, like bloggers, are just there for the kicks. Personal web hosting are hosting services tailored for individuals. Most hosting services they provide gives the benefit of easy publishing of content for non technical people. Web hosting Philippines will try to give out some example on how it differs from each person and their needs.

The difference between regular web hosts and sub-domain hosts is that the more complex the hosting, the more services they provide. Regular hosts provide highly individualized functionality that guarantees a sound level of quality service. These services are fee-based, ensuring that revenues generated can be allotted for maintenance, service improvement and for providing superior technical support. Hence, the high fees charged. However, low cost regular hosting can be found with regular web hosts. The most basic entry-level fee-based service can be found in “virtual” or “shared” hosting. Shared servers offer clients the ability to host their website on a powerful, professionally managed server, at a low monthly cost. They provide individual websites with redundant connectivity, guaranteed uptime and limitless technical support.

These service providers offer an excellent option for entry-level hosting needs because they are designed to host small-scale e-commerce sites and static web pages. Although, they may not be a good choice to host personal websites because the variety and complexity of services provided is not really needed for the purpose of posting your resume, or sharing pictures with family members. These types of sites are mainly popular amongst first-time website owners who are looking for a reliable web presence without having to possess advanced technical skills. Mainly those who are starting an Internet business would be interested in them. One attractive feature that lures would be business startups id that they allow them have their website hosted on their domain name such as http://www.their businessname.com.

You will find that services vary widely in price and can cost anywhere and users can expect the quality of service to fluctuate based upon the amount paid for the service. Remember that you really do get what you pay for. There is no exception to the rule. Like anything else in life, “buyer beware” becomes the rule and not the exception when purchasing shared hosting services. If you buy a relatively inexpensive package, then you can expect the quality to reflect the cost of the service. You will not get all the “bells and whistles” that you would get from a regular web host service. Low priced or even free packages for that matter lend themselves to a variety of problems such as more network outages and other unexpected service problems. This may be acceptable to the individual who is looking for simplicity for their non-essential personal site, but it certainly won’t do for a someone trying to conduct a legitimate business on the web.

According to the majority of you guys web hosting is a liability, not an expense because once you spend your money on hosting, it is already used up and it never comes back. So most people find the cheapest business web hosting in the philippines thinking it will save them more money in the long run without any headaches. But the reality is buying cheap web hosting will hurt you in the long run because of terrible customer service and downtime which you would not get with better web hosting. At web hosting Philippines, we try to gauge as to whether a web hosting is good to cut the cost of your business.

So back to the original question, how can web hosting help you. Web hosting can help you by allowing you to run your side business or a hobby – something that you enjoy while you are working. Having a website on the side is easy to maintain and should help you in the long run because you can work a little bit on it daily and since you enjoy doing it it isn’t work. For example, a lot of people run car audio review sites even though their day job is teaching. So how does that help? It helps because when their hours get cut or when they lose their job they have something to fall back on which is important.

In a downturn economy, a lot of workers lose their jobs because of declining profits by major corporations and the lack of spending by the consumer . When workers lose their job, they either look for another job or they just stay at home waiting for a phone call to return to work. But instead of doing any of those actions, they need to purchase a web hosting account and start a hobby and have their own business. By having their own business they should be able to supplement their normal income with income from their new hobby site which couldn’t have been done if they never created their own website.

Each website can act as its own business. In many ways, a website is like a real estate property. By having a lot of different websites, you are having a lot of real estate properties, so when real estate prices fall in one sector it may gain in another sector and you won’t lose out. For example, you may have a website that deals with printer ink or another that deals with women’s clothing. These are just several options that you can have so when women’s fashion are dying like in this bad economy, you will still have the sales from the printer ink since these are more inelastic than women’s luxury clothing. Elastic meaning more sensitive to price change.

With the revolution of the internet, web hosting has made it easier for individuals to start their own business with just a few simple mouse clicks and some writing and designing skills. But even now most people just purchase templates from major companies. There is huge demand for internet websites since more people now are embracing the internet for price comparison and research of products. People now are more knowledgeable than in the past.

So do not fear if there is any downtime in the economy. You can fix that problem by creating your own business website. If people don’t come just create another one. It does not hurt. Most web hosting companies even offer unlimited domain hosting on their web hosting so you can have unlimited websites on a single account like web hosting from Bluehost. If you never try you never know if you would have succeeded in utilizing the most powerful tool in generating revenue. It never hurts to try even if you are old.

Web hosting philippines is a brand new website by MadLabs Media LLC that provides information about the best hosting company there is in the internet. We can never hide the fact that the internet is full of scammers and I have been a victim of one. When I started to put up my very first web hosting, I was scammed with my money and never heard from the owner ever again. But I was still determined to put up my website and find a web hosting, to my delight, I found a non-scammer seller of web hosting, but it was fairly new. The problems I had with my 2nd hosting was that, it wasn’t reliable.

There’s a lot of headache in web hosting

Reliability is one. A web hosting company or server is reliable when there are 0% down time. Which means, your site won’t go offline. What I experienced is that, the web hosting is not that reliable and my clients who started to visit the site thought of me as unprofessional.

And so I went from one web hosting to another. Because of this, I gained a lot of experience about different web hosting company’s strong and weak points. I decided to put up this blog so that people from the Philippines and all over the world may know first hand how a specific web hosting company does its business, their strong points, their weak points and how to deal with them.

Let’s answer some questions first, what is web hosting? A web hosting company, either in the Philippines or anywhere in the world, is a company that will let you host your web files for all the rest of the world to see your site. More like an office space on the internet. It is different from a domain name, in which by our analogy, would be the name of the office. You have to buy the domain and hosting separately but there are some web hosting companies that offer both at an affordable price or either one of them is free.

Why do you need a web hosting? Businesses needs web hosting mainly because to gain exposure. Because of the nature of the internet, anything that can be published on the web, can be seen by everybody across the globe. So, businesses that caters to a large international audience may benefit from it. Also, those businesses that wants to push their business to the next level may want to put up a site so they can reach a larger customer base.

Also, people buy web hosting for personal use. There are house wives and moms that wants to share their experiences and write it in their website. There are people who uses web hosting to earn money online as well.

So what should we look for when signing up for a web hosting? First of all, look for reliability, customer reviews, excellent customer support and lastly the price. I will pay a large amount of money for a web hosting that would not go down on me and leave my site behind. We will write more articles about that in the following days, as for now please bare with us.

Web Hosting Philippines is here to provide you with valuable information about different web hosting companies around the world. So that, if you’re on the edge of signing up, you know that you can sleep at night and have a peace of mind, knowing that you’re not being scammed nor your site going down while you were asleep.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us.

Til’ then,

Rating Out Of Ten

Performance 9
Reliability 8
Customer Relations 10
Features 8
Control Panel 8

Introduction

Lunarpages was founded in the summer of 2000 when Add2Net Corporation expanded its hosting offerings to include shared hosting. For the previous 3 years, Add2Net had been successfully providing large scale managed and unmanaged hosting services. This was the foundation for Lunarpages customer services and rock solid business hosting platforms.

Serving as the web hosting division of Add2Net, Inc., the staff and technical support team at Lunarpages has an established five year history in the web hosting industry. This is relatively long considering that most web hosting companies are overnight operations and in reality you need a company that will always be around. Lunarpages has earned a reputation as a provider with superior customer support and a solid web hosting data center. Unlike most web hosting companies, you can always get through the phone line with Lunarpages. Also, the $7.95 monthly plan offers everything you need in order to make the presence of your business successful on the web.

Price and Cost Effectiveness

Lunarpages offers decent pricing on their web-hosting plans. For a mere $6.95 a month, you receive up to 1500 GB of space and 15000 GB of traffic. Also, free domain name for life. They also offer a $22.95 web-hosting package, which has double the amount of features. But for most users, the $6.95 is sufficient enough. They also offer a descent amount of basic features here. In addition, you also get unlimited toll free support with all web hosting plans, which isn’t common in most web hosting companies. Among the many options available, they also offer the options to purchase ASP and JSP on the Linux platform .

Lunarpages Data Center

Lunarpages uses Dell Power Edge 2650 servers, with their data center located in downtown Los Angeles. Their latest servers are quad Xeon 2.4 GHz Xeon processors, with 6 GB of memory and three 70 GB Raid Disk Drive. Compared to other web hosting companies, they dominate over any other server offered by any Web Hosting company. They currently use state of the art net infrastructure equipment and plan to offer many new features in the future such as load balancing. Furthermore, they are connected to premium Tier-1 Backbone providers and are multi-home with Level3, Genuity and Cable and Wireless. As a result, you will get above average web hosting performance and reliability that other providers normally charge a premium for. They also constantly add servers onto their data center, meaning they are growing rapidly.

Lunarpages Customer Relations

Customer support at Lunarpages is superior and they are very responsive to your questions. Even e-mail support questions always get answered in a timely manner. This is very different from any other web hosting company out there. Accounts are usually setup the same day after they verify the order with you over the phone within thirty minutes to one hour. It is essential that a working phone number be inputted into the system in order for your account to be setup immediately. They also offer long support hours. Furthermore, they have a help desk system which enables you to view common question customer asks.

Cpanel Control Panel

Lunarpages currently utilizes the latest version of the CPanel 5 control panel. The features are pretty much the same to other CPanel, such as mailbox modification, password changes, ftp login modifications, statistical information, and so on. CPanel doesn’t offer any web-building tool, but for web hosting administration it offers the user an easy and intuitive interface along with powerfully packed features.

Conclusion

Lunarpages is definitely a good choice of web hosting for many users. Not only does it score tops with best features for the price, but it is also great because you can call toll-free when you are in need of assistance. Other companies offering plans this low normally require that you e-mail them for support inquires, and even if they did provide support over the phone, there would be long distance charges. Give Lunarpages a shot and you will not regret it.
